The Alexandria Tigers cross country teams competed at Davis Park Tuesday evening against Anderson and Elwood. The ladies were victorious on the evening and the guys finished in second. The Tigers had a great showing in less than ideal running conditions on a very hot and humid evening.
The ladies were victorious by a score of 22-36 over Anderson and an incomplete Elwood team. The Tigers were led by Macy Hood, Bri Savage, and Jenna Ogborn finishing 4-5-6 in the meet. Kait Davis, Maddy King, and Lydia Woodruff made up the next Tiger pack finishing 10-11-12. The remaining top Tiger finishers were Erin Robinson in 17th, Olivia Morrow in 18th, Abby Burnett in 22nd, and Miki Murphy in 24th. “This was a great team effort tonight against a pair of county rivals.”
The guys team finished second by a score of 15-55-58. The Tigers were led by senior Chet Maynard in a time of 19:13.96 to claim 6th place. Sean Kilgore came in 9th and Jordan Murdock outraced an Elwood opponent in the last half mile to finish in 10th. DJ Rambo in 14th and Guy Maynard in 16th rounded out the Tiger scorers. Other top Tigers on the night were Jacob Shrewsbury in 17th, Averill Everett in 18th, Matt Floyd in 20th, and MJ Hosier in 26th. The effort tonight was exceptional with most of our scorer finishing just in front of Elwood runners. “Every runner did their job tonight to insure the team win.”
