Boys Junior Varsity Tennis, Boys Varsity Tennis · Tiger Tennis Beats Frankton, Closes in on CIC Title

Frankton, IN.  The Tiger Tennis team defeated Frankton 4-1 on Monday night and move one step closer to winning the CIC conference.  The Tigers face off against Blackford tonight at home and then Elwood on Thursday at home for Senior Night.  Here are Coach Devault’s comments from last night.

I always hate to play the same team twice as we have already seen Frankton in the county, but we again found a way to get another big CIC win on the road.

The singles matches were much quicker then last time as we came out on fire.   Brett moved  a couple players around so it gave us a differnt look.  Matt and Blake won very quickly moving the ball around well.  Josh got the 3rd point not too long afterwards after a couple tight early games, was able to take control and win going away.

2D saw one new face but won in two strong sets.   Sam & Kiel had each set close at the beginning but played very well to take each set going away.

The 1D match was the closest point as Frankton pulled off the three set win.  Dane & Matt started strong winning the 1st set going away.  To their credit they started playing back and lobbing the ball which we struggled to adjust to in the 2nd.   They continued in the 3rd and we were getting frustrated.   Good learning experience for us seeing a different style.    We could easily see them again next week in sectional play.    Important win to continue our run for the CIC title.

JV had another strange night capturing the singles, but falling short in the doubles.   Avery, Ellis, & Camden all played well.   The match came down to Jadon winning going away and the team of Keegan & Nik getting the only doubles win.
