Boys Junior Varsity Tennis, Boys Varsity Tennis · Tigers Defeat Elwood, Finish Undefeated CIC Run

This win gave the Alexandria their 14th CIC Conference Title and an undefeated record in CIC play!

The Tigers also set a school record for the most wins in a season (20 wins)

(formally 18 set by both the boys- 1995 & the girls- 2011)!

Very exciting to get the CIC win and title tonight.   As we are starting to see, teams put stronger players at doubles against us but our depth at singles has been too strong as Matthew, Blake, & and then Josh rolled off the 1st three points in strong fashion.

As it was senior night for the Tigers , we honored our three senior tennis players (Josh, Kiel, & Noah).  I paired seniors Noah with Kiel at 2D as both have been great leaders and examples in our program.  They started slow but rolled after capturing a close 1st set.  Josh our 1S player also has been a huge key to the success the last two years and has really settled down about mid-season and has taken off leading the way getting bg wins for the Tigers.

#1D saw I felt the strongest Elwood players and the Tigers had to fight through a close 1st set.   We got down 2-4 in the tie-breaker, but on the rotation of sides, Dane & Matt took over the match starting with great net play ending the 1st set.   The 2nd set was all Tigers as they dominated on our serve which kept the momentum on our side.

Again, great to get CIC Champions!   Also a great way to end the regular season as we start preparing for Sectional play next week.  Very proud of how these young men have stepped up each match.   It is especially satisfying as many of these young players started tennis as they entered HS and have worked extremely hard to get to where we are setting these records.   The Tiger Tennis team is loaded both varsity & JV with some special young men who learn quickly and play hard.
