Boys Junior Varsity Tennis, Boys Varsity Tennis · Tennis Awards Handed Out After Historic Season

After a great season, we honored our boy’s tennis team at our tennis banquet on Wednesday. The Boy’s Tennis team finished the season with a school record 20 wins (20-3 on season) and 14th Central Indiana Conference Championship. Add in a Peru Invitational Title and a Muncie Central Invitational Title and it was a magical season. The Junior Varsity also had an amazing season going 12-3-1 and also going undefeated in CIC play. It is a special accomplishment for both teams to run the table in CIC action and finished with great records. The Tigers had eight players earn varsity awards and 11 players receive JV awards (listed on other page). Team awards saw Matthew Hensley named the Team captain. Matthew showed great leadership for only a junior by his hard work every practice and in every match. Matthew & Josh tied for the team Most Valuable Player as both led the Tigers on the court all season. Dane was named Most Improved player as he more then doubled his wins from last year getting 19 individual wins this season after getting none wins in 2014. Noah Dockrey who split time between varsity & JV received the Matt Wherley award for his energy and excitement he brought every day to the team. The Central Indiana Conference voting was a tight vote all around, but the Tigers took home the most hardware with all seven players being recognized for their amazing season. Josh, Matthew, Blake, & Matt received their 2nd 1st team award as Dane joined them for the 1st time. Josh, Matthew, & Blake all went undefeated in CIC play this season. Kiel & Sam capped an amazing season at 2D by getting Honorable Mention All-CIC. A few days earlier, the All-District teams were voted upon and the Tigers were well represented. Tennis is not class so it means the Tigers get compared to all size schools. The Tigers ended the season ranked fourth in District 4 behind Delta, Lapel, & Richmond. Josh was honored to make the All-District team in singles. Matt & Dane paired up to make the All-District team in doubles. Wonderful to see these young men honored by fellow coaches.
