Multiple Teams · 8th Grade Boys Capture CIC Tourney Title


On Saturday, January 30th, the 8th Grade Boys’ Basketball team captured the first Jr High CIC Basketball title in school history.  The Tigers defeated conference-rival RJ Baskett for a third time this season.

The game started with the Tigers taking a quick 9-0 lead.  The Indians recaptured the momentum and scored the next 11 points.  Halftime saw the score 21-19 Tigers and the team from Alexandria came out and made a statement in the third quarter.  Holding the Indians to a mere 2 points and scoring 13 of their own, the Tigers took a 13 point lead into the 4th quarter.  The Indians never recovered and the final scoreboard showed a score of Alexandria 49 – RJ Baskett 34.
Brennan Morehead led the team with 19 points and was a stellar 16 for 18 from the free throw line.  As a whole, the team shot 21 for 26 from the charity stripe.  Rylan Metz and Cade Vernetti had 12 and 11 points, respectively.  The team is now 16-4 on the season, with an unblemished 9-0 record against CIC opponents.  The Tigers face Anderson Highland Thursday @ AMIS at 5:30 pm in their first game of the Madison County Tourney.
