Tigers News · Tiger Athlete Stories – Part 2 – Kirsten VanHorn- “The Glue Girl”

Kirsten Van Horn has lettered in volleyball her first two years of HS and basketball and softball all 4 years.

In my experience as a coach, I would describe Kirsten as “The Glue” that makes it all go together.   She has been a varsity athlete for the Alexandria Tiger athletic program for 4 years.

She has been a part of a history making volleyball team, a winning basketball team, and sectional champion, CIC champion, and 20 win softball teams.

I can say with confidence that Kirsten hasn’t been the best player on any of those teams.

I can also say with confidence that all of those teams would not have been successful without the contributions from Kirsten VanHorn.

Kirsten is a winner. She makes the people around her better on and off the court. I have had the privilege of knowing Kirsten and her family her entire life. I have been around Kirsten in a school setting, a sports setting, a church setting, and a community setting.

What is awesome about Kirsten VanHorn is she is the same person, teammate, student, and contributor in all those settings.

She is glue- she makes the people around her better.

I feel lucky that I have got the chance to watch her grow up! I know that she is going into the medical field. With what we are going through right now in our world – we need people like Kirsten VanHorn in this field!!

Thank you Kirsten for your contributions to Tiger Athletics and AMHS!
