September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, so tomorrow, Tiger fans are GOIN’ GOLD!
Each year, in the US, there are an estimated 15,780 children who are diagnosed with cancer.
Every 3 minutes, somewhere in the world, a family hears the devastating words “your child has cancer”.
Tomorrow, we will be honoring Alexandria’s own shining star, Charlotte Cambridge. Charlotte is a SURVIVOR of Hepatoblastoma, a rare pediatric liver cancer. Many of you already know Charlotte’s story. Charlotte was diagnosed when she was just 15 months old and fought cancer three times. Her doctors agree she is a medical miracle and we are excited to be celebrating with her tonight as she is 3 years CANCER FREE!! Charlotte gets to turn seven years old in October!
Tomorrow, she will be joining the AMHS Cheerleaders on the field during the 1st quarter as an honorary cheerleader. Please come out and WEAR YOUR GOLD FOR CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS!
While we are ecstatic to be celebrating Charlotte tomorrow, others are not so fortunate. Tomorrow, the AMHS Cheerleaders will be accepting donations in Charlotte’s honor to be presented to The Foundation for Addie’s Research. This foundation is in memory of Adelaid Stiverson, a young and courageous little girl who lost her battle with hepatoblastoma at just 3 years and 17 days old. Addie’s family established this foundation in her memory to provide support and funding to accelerate discoveries and provide more options for children fighting cancer right now! In fact, this foundation helped guide doctors in making decisions for Charlotte’s medical care. The Foundation for Addie’s Research played a hand in saving Charlotte’s life.
Funds for research are DESPERATELY needed to create CURES for these childhood cancers. All donations collected tonight will go directly to pediatric cancer research that is happening RIGHT NOW. This foundation is helping children as we speak, so your donation will be helping children IMMEDIATELY!
The cheerleaders will be walking the stands to collect donations until half-time or you can visit them behind the bleachers to make a donation. Everyone who makes a donation will receive a free gift!
We thank you for GOING GOLD for Childhood Cancer Awareness with us tomorrow night!
